The Coffee Table

Our client wanted a coffee table that would fit perfectly within the limited space of their New York apartment. They specifically requested a design inspired by a shelf they had collected from their parents over a decade ago. Their goal was for me to create a table that was perfect for their space that would seamless integrate with their existing furniture.

  • Because of the table's heavy weight, it needed to be built in a way that allowed it to be separated into multiple pieces for transport. As a result, the design consists of two separate parts: the solid top and the heavy cross-base. The table is assembled on-site using a threaded rod that spans the base, ensuring stability.

This is a simple yet elegant design that highlights the beauty of the wood. Notable details include the beveled edges of the tabletop and a walnut bowtie inlay placed in the end grain to reinforce a natural knot in the wood.
